Consultation Options and Your 1st Appointment
New Patient Consultation
If it has been a long time since you have been to the dentist or are considering joining our dental family, it is highly recommended that you join our practice via our very popular New Patient Consultation and Evaluation. This appointment establishes a vital foundation for our relationship with you and will allow us to evaluate your complete dental health and smile. The appointment will last approximately 90 minutes and will include the following:
• Complete medical & dental history review,
• discussion of any specific concerns and future goals
• low-radiation digital X-Rays
• digital photos of your teeth and smile
• clinical evaluation of your teeth, gums and bite
We will then examine our findings of your examination. With you, we will create a plan that addresses your concerns and fits within your budget and schedule. By understanding your options, you can make an informed decision on your dental care. It is your choice, whether you want to all of the treatment, some of it or do it in phases. You also have the choice whether to do any treatment at all. We will discuss the pros and cons of all of your options. We give you the flexibility to choose the option that best meets your needs and will ensure that we help you maximize your dental benefits. This meeting is a baseline for future comparisons and is the basis for a lifetime master plan for oral health.
Free Cosmetic Consultation
At this short meeting we will carefully listen to your smile concerns. It will include a brief exam, a review of Dr. Botbol's completed "smile makeover" cases as well as discussion of your goals and treatment options. In most cases, we will provide a fee estimate, financing options as well as time needed to complete treatment. If you are considering having cosmetic dentistry but not sure if you're ready for the change, our computer imaging can give you a "sneak preview" of what you may look like after having the treatment procedure of your choice. We will take a digital photo, and easily show you what your smile may look like with porcelain veneers or after teeth whitening. This can help you select the procedures that are right for you. We offer this as a complimentary service. This will be the first step in getting the beautiful smile you always dreamed of!

How To Choose A Cosmetic Dentist
Today more than ever, the choice of a cosmetic dentist is a critical choice that should be made with the utmost care. So how do you choose the right cosmetic dentist? After all, in today's marketplace, there are many general dentists who perform at least some types of cosmetic dental procedures. Over the past few years, there has been a dramatic influx of "cosmetic dentists" into the field that being a "cosmetic dentistry" in the industry is almost a cliché . . . passé'. Why? Because these days, any general dentist who does things as simple as whitening teeth can claim to hold the title of a cosmetic dentist. So when someone is looking to get that perfect Hollywood smile, what should they expect? The question remains: are all dentists the same?
Choosing the right cosmetic dentist for you, one with extensive hands-on training, substantial experience in complex cases, and a gentle approach that compliments your wants and needs is critical to achieving the most successful outcome - your dazzling new smile. Those educated and are able to discern will realize that most cosmetic dentistry, if done properly, is a complex and precise set of operative procedures that will dramatically affect their lives for years to come.
Selecting among cosmetic dentists can be a quite difficult and rather confusing process. In the end, it comes down to a personal decision that each person must make for him or herself. We can, however, offer some advice, which our clients have found immensely helpful during the selection process. After discussing it with some of our clients, we believe the most important of these tips are summarized in the following:
- Take Your Time
Most cosmetic dental procedures are optional procedures, not emergencies. Time spent learning about the dental procedures, different techniques and materials, and cosmetic dentists you are considering will pay great dividends in terms of your emotional comfort and understanding later. If you’re hesitant, see a couple different experienced cosmetic dentists for a consultation.
- Post Graduate Cosmetic Dental Training
In order to perform cosmetic dental procedures at the highest level, technical skill, an artistic eye, and a rigorous program of post-graduate training in cosmetic dentistry is required. It may surprise you to know that the vast majority of dental schools don't teach any courses in cosmetic dentistry. Your mouth should not be the place for on-the-job training. Therefore, it is crucial that the cosmetic dentist you select is continually completing series of hands-on courses in cosmetic dentistry. If you want to get optimal results, in-depth training is essential for a cosmetic dentist to learn the latest techniques and materials.
- Professional Cosmetic Dentistry Credentials
Just as in medicine, in dentistry, specialties exist that indicate a higher level of education, knowledge, and expertise in particular areas of focus.
- Integrity
Find a cosmetic dentist who is truthful in his/her assessment of your needs and of their ability to meet your expectations. Be wary of the dentist minimizing your recovery period and telling you just how "simple and easy" everything is going to be.
- A Caring Approach & Great Communication
Find a doctor with a good bedside manner who conveys to you that they care about you not just as a client, but as a person as well. Cosmetic dentistry is not a single operation, but a process. Find someone that you can talk easily with. It is just as important that he/she understands what you desire as it is for you to understand what they are describing.
- A Sense of Perfectionism
Find a cosmetic dentist who is accurate in his/her evaluation of your needs, meticulous in their craftsmanship, and precise in the execution of their operative plan. Although perfection is in the eye of the beholder, you should make sure this doctor will do whatever it takes without cutting corners, not only to satisfy you, but also to meet their own personal standards of excellence.
- An Artistic Eye
While technical virtuosity is necessary to produce a great clinical result, it is not necessarily sufficient. First-rate cosmetic dentistry demands a highly sophisticated artistic sense. In order to achieve an optimal aesthetic result, you must have a clear vision of what is artistically possible and appropriate.
- Extensive Smile Design Experience
Before you randomly select one of the cosmetic dentists from the phone book or rely on your long-time family dentist to give you the smile design of your dreams, think again. Remember that great cosmetic dentistry is a form of art. The fact is, many dentists are generalists who simply have not performed cosmetic smile designs very many times or with a regularity that leads to the necessary mastery of this art.
- Make Sure You Review Before and After Photos of Work Actually Performed by the Cosmetic Dentists
You will want to look at before/after photos of cosmetic dentistry that has actually been performed by the dentist that you are considering. But you want to confirm that you are seeing actual work of the dentist you are considering, so make sure that the before photos you look at are also cases similar to yours.
- Other Things You May Want to Consider
A tour of the office including sterilization areas, references from other patients and questioning or testing technology and materials used in the practice are all things you may want to look well into.

Cosmetic Dentistry in Toronto has come a long way in the past 10 years, dental fillings and other tooth restorations were originally made of gold, silver or some other metal, which were then veneered with porcelain to hide the filling. With technological advances in cosmetic dentistry in Toronto most dental work can be made entirely of porcelain or composite materials that more closely mimic the appearance of natural tooth structure. The teeth colored materials are bonded with resin adhesives to the underlying tooth structure. Unlike silver fillings (a.k.a. amalgams) they are entirely free of mercury. Many dentists in Toronto offer these procedures to be cosmetic because their patients prefer natural looking teeth.

Another innovation of the Cosmetic Dentist is the invention of teeth whitening or “teeth bleaching” and is now the most common Cosmetic Dental procedure. While many “do it yourself” whitening options are now available on the market, dentist-supervised treatments remain the recommended procedure for lightening discolored teeth and give you the best results for your money.

Contouring, which is also known as tooth reshaping, is an instant treatment now available in cosmetic dentistry in Toronto. Cosmetic dental reshaping and contouring is a procedure to correct crooked teeth, chipped teeth, cracked teeth or even overlapping teeth in just one quick and easy session. The dental reshaping procedure can even be a replacement for braces and retainers under certain circumstances and it is also a procedure of subtle changes. A few millimeters of reduction and a few millimeters of tooth-colored laminate is involved. Tooth reshaping, or dental contouring, is commonly used to alter the length, shape or position of teeth by dentists in Toronto.

Dental bridges or false teeth are known as a pontics, which are fused between two porcelain crowns to fill in the area left by missing teeth. The two crowns holding it in place are then attached to your teeth on each side of the false tooth; this is known as a fixed bridge. This procedure is used to replace one or more missing teeth. Fixed bridges are permanent and cannot be taken out of your mouth as you can do with removable partial dentures. Bridges can reduce the risk of getting gum disease, help correct some bite issues and even improve your speech. Bridges require your commitment to serious oral hygiene, but will last as long as ten years or more.
